Tower to Tower is a cycling extravaganza that begins in Blackpool
and ends in Paris. The ride is fully supported by vehicles that
carry spares, food, drink and luggage, and whilst on the road
team leaders will ensure the ride is safe and enjoyable. It is
a great event that, and believe it or not, is not just about cycling.
It is a challenge for us both physically and mentally.
The teachers quote "We cycle two or three times a week and
covered more than 100 miles. We are both excited to take up this
challenge but have to admit to being a bit nervous as well".
Each day's cycling is planned to enable us to achieve the predetermined
distance comfortably - the whole route over a week. Support vehicle(s)
are in attendance throughout, carrying refreshments when required
en route, and every conceivable bike spare to ensure that any
necessary repair can be undertaken by our mechanic on the road.
While in England, three or four breaks throughout the day are
again pre-planned at convenient distances. In France, similar
breaks are pre-planned, but this time we make use of the local
café bars to sample the local cuisine.
